On behalf of the Heritage Shunters Trust, we are pleased to make available this book, published by the Industrial Railway Society, which lists all the ex-BR diesels (under 1000hp) that went into Industry after their BR service ended. In effect this means diesel shunters, however also included are D9500-D9555 (later class 14) due to their 650hp rating. Please note that this book, which is currently the latest edition available, was originally published in 2019 with data as recorded as at the 31st of July of that year. As a result of railway privatisation prior to the publication of edition 5 of this book, this edition onwards then included shunters that were bought and hired out by the newly privatised companies. Also included are shunters that went directly into preservation at the end of their BR service, whether purchased by companies or private individuals. Locos listed are shown in numerical order, together with details of subsequent ownership changes, and eventual date scrapped where appropriate.
